Government to Change Rules For Debt Relief Orders?
Due to the strict criteria of Debt Relief Orders which state that an individual can owe no more than £15k, afford no more than £50 per month and have assets of no more than £300, many people with only small pension funds are being excluded from using this form of insolvency which was introduced to assist society’s poorest. However Labour are considering making amendments to the criteria to make Debt Relief Orders more inclusive to those with small pension funds.
